Bloc Party Announce 'Silent Alarm' 20th Anniversary Tour - Music Feeds

Published 5 days ago2 minute read

Bloc Party have detailed their return to Australia, less than two years after they were last here on a co-headlining jaunt with Interpol. In August 2025, the UK indie-rock veterans will return for a five-date capital-city run in which they will once again perform their seminal 2005 debut Silent Alarm in its entirety – as they did on their tour back in 2018. The full list of dates can be found below.

Joining the band as support on the entire run will be American indie-rock band Young The Giant. This tour will serve as their first of the country since 2011 – and will also mark their first-ever time in New Zealand, as they will also be joining Bloc Party for their Aotearoan dates in both Christchurch and Auckland following the conclusion of the Australian tour dates. Their most recent studio album, American Bollywood, was released in 2022. 2025 sees the band celebrating 15 years since their self-titled debut album, which featured their multi-platinum hits ‘Cough Syrup’ and ‘My Body’.

Bloc Party’s 2023 tour marked their first in Australia with new bassist Harry Deacon, formerly of Razorlight and Palace, who replaced longtime bassist Justin Harris following his departure to return to the fold of his previous band Menomena. The current line-up of the band – co-founders Kele Okereke (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Russell Lissack (lead guitar), Harris and drummer Louise Bartle – have thus far recorded one stand-alone single together entitled ‘Flirting Again’, released in 2024.

Silent Alarm was originally released in February 2005. It peaked at number two on the UK albums chart and at number 30 on the ARIA albums chart locally, going on to Platinum and Gold certification respectively. The album spawned several UK top 40 hits, including ‘Banquet’, ‘Helicopter’, ‘So Here We Are’ and ‘Pioneers’. A documentation of the band’s 2018 world tour in which the album was played in reverse order, Silent Alarm Live, was released in February 2019.

A pre-sale for the tour will run from Wednesday, March 19th at 9am local time – and can be registered for here. General sale will then follow on Friday, March 21st – again at 9am local time – via the tour’s official promoter, Destroy All Lines.
