’s net profit surged nearly four-fold, boosted by a one-time gain from a tax benefit, and steady growth in its India business where it added more data-intensive customers which drove data usage.The Bharti board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 16, per full paid-up equity, and Rs 4 per partly paid-up equity share, of Rs 5 each for the fiscal 2025.
Airtel’s quarterly net profit stood at Rs 11,021.8 crore, compared to Rs 2161.1 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, and Rs 14,760.7 crore in the December quarter.
The telco’s consolidated revenue rose 27.3% on-year to Rs 47,876 crore from a year earlier, driven by momentum in its India business and sustained constant-currency growth in the Africa operations, and full quarter impact of Indus Towers consolidation, the company said.
India business revenues surged 28.8% on-year to Rs 36,735 crore backed by improved realizations in mobile segment, strong momentum in Homes business and Indus Towers consolidation.
“We ended FY 25 on a strong note with consolidated revenue of 47,876 crore, growing 6.1%. India revenue increased by 6%. Africa continued its underlying performance even as there was steadiness on currency. India Mobile business grew by 1.3% sequentially, despite having 2 less days in the quarter. Growth was driven by premiumization. We added 6.6 million smartphone users and maintained an industry-leading ARPU of Rs. 245,” said Gopal Vittal, vice chairman and MD, Bharti Airtel in a statement.“Our Homes business saw step up in customer net additions resulting in sequential revenue growth of 5.8%. Our IPTV services are now live in over 2000 cities, enhancing large screen viewing experience for customers. Airtel business revenue moderation was in-line with our strategy outlined last quarter to shed our low margin wholesale business while underlying growth continues to remain steady,” he added.Airtel’s average revenue per user (ARPU) — a key performance metric, stayed flat in the March quarter at Rs 245.
For Airtel, this is the 14th consecutive quarter in the black, after six straight losses earlier.
Airtel stocks closed 2.47% lower at Rs 1,824.50 at the BSE. Results were announced after market hours.
