Bay County officials urge residents to stay home
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Although the slight rise in temperatures earlier today helped clear some of the roadways, Bay County emergency officials continue to urge residents to heed the warnings and stay home with below-freezing temperatures anticipated tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Bay County Emergency Operations are stilling citizens that there is a high likelihood that road refreeze will become even more dangerous than it was today and last night.
Panama City covered by record snowfall, crews working overnight to clear roads
Despite the cold temperatures, crews will continue working on restoring power, clearing roads, and repairing any other persistent issues across the county.
To resolve all the issues and get everything back to normal emergency crews say, working with one another is crucial.
“It’s a community effort. All the partner agencies and law enforcement, city municipalities, everybody has been great. We are all working together as a team, and that is what it takes to do things like this,” Bay County Emergency Services Chief Matthew Lindewirth said.
In preparation for the for the poor weather expected tomorrow, the Bay County government and court systems will be closed. The Bay County EOC will continue to elevate the weather and evaluate. I should say the weather and road conditions and update residents accordingly.
