Bauchi Assembly members spend N105 million on constituents' welfare
A member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, representing Disina, Shira Local Government Area, Hon. Saleh Hodi Jibril Disina, stated that he has spent over N105 million on various grassroots projects in the area over the last six years.
Disina, who is also the majority leader of the House, made this statement on Monday during an interaction with select journalists. He explained that he has prioritised education and poverty reduction programmes.
According to him, 97 constituents were fully sponsored to the state university, polytechnics and colleges of education, adding that construction of primary and secondary schools was ongoing across Disina.
“We have provided primary health care centres worth N21 million in Garuruwan Sambawal and Gagidiba. We have constructed a market and given out farm inputs and assisted small-scale businesses. We have empowered our youths with motorcycles and vehicles to boost their economic growth,” he said.
Disina attributed his performance to robust achievements of the Assembly and cordial relationship with the executive arm of government, adding that he has repeatedly pressed the Governor, Bala Mohammed, to facilitate development projects in his constituency.
Over the last six years, Disina stated that the House has passed 32 bills, with 16 of them being signed into law by the Governor.
However, he explained that other bills were awaiting the governor’s assent, including the local government financial autonomy bill and the farmers/herders bill, among others.
