Around 1.2 million displaced people across 33 camps depend on humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs in Cox’s Bazar.
Conditions in these camps are becoming increasingly difficult due to declining funding, ongoing rainfall, and the fresh arrival of approximately 200,000 individuals who are currently staying with friends and relatives.
Under the Population Movement Operation (PMO), Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and nine Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) national societies has been playing a crucial role in delivering vital humanitarian assistance to these highly vulnerable camp communities as well as the affected local communities.
BDRCS collaborate closely with local Government authorities, UN agencies, and the wider community — both within the camps and among host populations.
In March, PMO reached around 208,000 people of these 143,461 from the camps and 64,777 of the host communities through a range of initiatives including Health, Disaster and Climate Risk Management (DCRM), Shelter, WASH, Education, Livelihoods, Protection, Gender and Inclusion, as well as Community Engagement and Accountability.
