Defending champion U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca (Liga Nationala) re-signed experienced 35-year old Romanian-American international 195cm point guard Patrick Richard (college: McNeese State, agency: Inception Sports) for upcoming season. He has played there for the last six seasons. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 25 Liga Nationala games he recorded 10.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.8apg last season. He helped them to win the league title (four times) despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Great year indeed as he was voted to Eurobasket.com Romanian League All-Domestic Players Team. Richard also played 7 games in Eurocup where he averaged 3.3ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.3apg. He contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals.
In 2012 he was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in seventh round (105th overall).
The former McNeese State star is in his 14th (!!!) season in pro basketball. Richard has been regularly called to the Romanian Senior National Team since 2021.
He is a very experienced player. Richard has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to eight different countries on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Australia (Sabres and Breakers), France (Champagne), Germany (MBC), Holland (Matrixx Magixx Wijchen), Israel (Maccabi Effie Capital Rishon Le-Zion), Italy (Reggio Emilia), Spain (Joventut) and NBA G League (Iowa Wolves).
Richard was selected to Romanian League All-Star Game back in 2022.
