Atletico seals kit partner future with Nike for another decade
has confirmed it has renewed its kit sponsorship deal with which will see the agreement eclipse over 30 years of partnership.
The long-term deal extension will last until the end of the 2034/35 season, with Nike continuing to manufacture and design Atletico men’s and women’s first team kits, as well as training apparel and provide other manufactured equipment.
Atletico first partnered with Nike in 2001 becoming its technical sponsor, therefore beginning to design kits for Los Colchoneros and fostering a close relationship between the club, the US sportswear giant and the club’s fans.
The club stated the deal extension will focus on the “ambition to keep growing together”, with Nike also committed to backing both the men’s and women’s teams.
Nike have been tailoring kits for Atletico during arguably the club’s most successful era under Manager . Since the Argentine Manager’s arrival in 2011, Atletico have won eight major trophies, including two La Liga titles and reaching two UEFA Champions League finals in 2014 and 2016.
Off the pitch, the club has also grown exponentially through various lucrative sponsorship agreements. The most recent deal saw – the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor – obtain naming rights for its stadium, the .
Atletico has continued its commercial push by sealing sponsorship agreements with the likes of , and K8 to help the club drive revenues and maintain its position as one of Spain’s and Europe’s largest football clubs.
An Atletico statement on the Nike extension said: “Having signed this renewal, we’re looking to the future with that same spirit and ambition, which have united us since the start, in the hopes that we can continue to grow and face more challenges to come, starting with the Club World Cup in the USA this summer and the upcoming inauguration of the Ciudad del Deporte.”
