Asake trends as man claiming to be his father battles stroke, seeks help

Published 2 months ago3 minute read

Singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, is trending on X after a man, Fatai Odunsi, also known as Malo, claimed to be his father and accused the singer of abandoning him while he battles a stroke.

Videos and photos of Odunsi surfaced on social media on Friday, showing him appealing for financial assistance.

In the widely circulated clip, he struggles with speech and movement, allegedly due to his medical condition.

“Good day everyone, I’m the one that gave birth to Ahmed Asake, the singer,” he said in the video.

“The last time I set my eyes on him was March 2022 when my sickness started. If I call Asake, he won’t pick. Please help me, it is your help that I need.”

The claim has sparked mixed reactions online, with some accusing the singer of neglecting his roots, while others argue that Asake’s father was not present in his life.

Sources allege that Odunsi was largely absent during Asake’s upbringing and that the singer built his career from scratch without any parental support from his father’s side.

However, other reports counter this claim, stating that Malo played a significant role in raising Asake, while his mother was the one who abandoned him as a child before later reconnecting with him.

A Facebook user, Segun Ben-Ajayi, dismissed claims that Asake’s father was an absentee parent.

He stated that Malo singlehandedly raised Asake when his mother left him at the age of three.

According to him, the irony is that Asake, now successful, enjoys his wealth with his mother, whose name he even adopted as his stage name, while allegedly neglecting his father.

The situation has ignited heated debates on social media, especially on X.

I'm not asking Asake to buy his father a Ferrari, just pay his medical bills and feed him. He's your father regardless

Regardless of what he did, he’s your father and he’s meant to be forgiven.

That’s the natural order of things.
Asake must and will forgive him. ✍️ https://t.co/8v8YwFavQ1
