Artist of the Week: India Gants, from America's Next Top Model to popular sobriety podcast

Published 7 hours ago4 minute read

India Gants is a Seattle-based model and content creator best known for her win on "America's Next Top Model" in 2017. Since then, she has graced the covers of several magazines, appeared on Times Square Billboards and grown her audience on social media to over 400,000. Most recently, India launched her podcast called "Hold My Drink: A Sobriety Podcast," where she talks about quitting alcohol and living a sober life.

Gants: Eight years.

Over the years, I've started feeling a bit lost with my content on social media because (let's face it), I am "famous" for something that happened eight years ago. It's a constant battle to stay relevant and come up with new content. But since I got sober in June 2024, it's like a light switch went off in my head. I have this feeling like I was MEANT to help people on their sobriety journeys. The content flows so naturally that I'm able to post 5-8 times a day on my TikTok page @holdmydrinkpodcast. So my "process" for creating content is honestly throwing spaghetti at the wall and speaking from the heart. People connect so much with the vulnerable stories I share on my TikTok and Podcast.

I feel like my situation is pretty unique — "ex model and reality TV star turned sobriety podcaster," so it's hard to find inspiration online for my content. That's why I truly try to speak from the heart and share my specific journey. But I love the "Skinny Confidential Podcast" and all the wellness creators who share their workouts, nutrition and daily routines. I've lost almost 40 pounds since quitting alcohol, and modeling my lifestyle around these health/wellness/routine creators has been a big contributor to that. My favorites are @brookemason, @hubs.life, @witneyysimmons and @emiliekiser.

On my personal social media page, I share about my life in Seattle! I just moved back in November and am loving rediscovering all the beauty Seattle has to offer. I share my day-to-day life, local recommendations, PNW golf courses and more. On my sobriety platform, the content falls into the health/wellness/self-improvement category, and I share podcast episodes and social media videos about quitting alcohol and staying sober, in a light-hearted, fun way.

Of course, I have to answer with my sobriety content. The sober community I have built online is truly so special. We have the TikTok page, the podcast, the Facebook support group and several other expansions coming soon. Not only does this topic mean the most to ME, but it also means the most to my audience. The messages I receive from people about how my content has changed their lives literally make me cry on a regular basis. Our community is so special, and I am so grateful for them.

The life experiences that shape my content the most are winning "America's Next Top Model," living in six different countries as a fashion model, quitting alcohol 10 months ago and also my recent move to Seattle and starting my life over at 28 years old.

You can find me @indiagants on IG and TikTok, and you can find my podcast everywhere you listen. It's called "Hold My Drink: A Sobriety Podcast."

I am in the process of writing my first book! I love writing, but never thought I had something compelling to write about until I got sober and saw the response people have had to my sobriety podcast and platform. So I'm super excited for the book to come out and can't wait to share more details on that in the near future!
