Over 160 associations of artisans and technicians across Kano State have benefitted from a leadership development training designed to enhance their managerial capacity and business outlook.
The one-day workshop, held over the weekend, was jointly organised by the Kano State Government and Global Sight Nigeria, with support from key federal agencies including the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).
Speaking at the event, the Kano State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, Wada Sagagi—represented by the Director General of the Kano State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, Nasir Mansur—reminded participants of their leadership responsibility and the role of associations in community development and economic progress.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the platform to network, share knowledge, and return to their trades with renewed passion and direction. “The training is intended to debunk misconceptions about leadership while equipping association heads with practical tools to better lead and support their members,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Sight Nigeria Limited and convener of the Nigeria Artisans and Technicians Conference, Mr. Dayo Bello, described the training as a crucial pre-event activity ahead of the upcoming Nigeria Artisans and Technicians Conference scheduled to take place from May 26th to 28th at the Kano State Trade Fair Complex.
Bello emphasized the need for collaboration between private entities, government agencies, and stakeholders in the informal sector to address Nigeria’s economic challenges. “We are a solution-driven company. We believe in the potential of our Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and we want to upscale their skills to global standards,” he stated.
