Art meets apparel: Sotheby's enters fashion with Frame
This unexpected yet fitting partnership blends the brand's California-cool aesthetic with the prestige Sotheby’s is renowned for. The result? A 31-piece wardrobe that echoes the spirit of New York's Upper East Side.
The limited-edition capsule reimagines both preppy menswear and womenswear styles through a Frame's effortlessly cool lens.
Erik Torstensson, co-founder of Frame, said: "This collaboration continues Frame’s commitment to aligning with world-class brands, many of which are helmed by people we’re proud to call friends.
"As a long-time fan and client of Sotheby’s, it was exciting to envision how apparel could bring Sotheby’s rich culture to a new, broader audience."
The collection pulls aesthetic cues from 1980s New York - a time when fashion and fine art mingled freely. Think Wall Street meets Warhol's studio - navy blazers layered with argyle sweaters, Oxford button-downs with crisp pocket squares and off-duty staples like retro tees and cashmere loungewear.
Kristina O’Neill, Head of Media and Editor-in-Chief of Sotheby’s Magazine, said: "The collaboration reflects Sotheby’s Media’s mission to connect the brand to broader cultural conversations and forge unexpected partnerships.
"With Frame, we’re blending the worlds of fashion and fine art, creating something truly special for our clients and theirs. It’s about offering a tangible connection to Sotheby’s heritage—one that is both modern and timeless."
Gareth Jones, CMO of Sotheby’s, added: "This collection offers a fresh way to engage with the Sotheby’s brand. It’s an opportunity for clients to carry the legacy of Sotheby’s with them, making art, history, and style part of their everyday life."
The collection is available now at Frame’s 16 boutiques and online, as well as Sotheby’s flagship galleries in New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong.
