Araghchi and UK FM discuss Israeli-US aggression and ceasefire

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy held a phone conversation on Friday to discuss the recent Israel-US military aggression against the Islamic Republic.

The two diplomats also addressed the cessation of Israeli attacks, which followed 22 phases of Iranian retaliatory strikes targeting sensitive Israeli military, intelligence, and industrial sites across the occupied territories.

According to Iran’s Health Ministry, the aggression resulted in the deaths of 627 Iranians, including senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians, with at least 4,800 others injured.

The Israeli strikes hit not only military and nuclear facilities but also non-military infrastructure, including the IRIB building, healthcare centers, outreach facilities, Evin Prison, and residential and rural areas, causing widespread civilian casualties.

Over a week after Israel began its assault, the United States joined the conflict by bombing three nuclear facilities in central and north-central Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate by striking the al-Udeid airbase in Qatar.

Araghchi and Lammy had previously met in Geneva, alongside the foreign ministers of France and Germany, who were also original signatories to the 2015 nuclear deal, prior to the US escalation.
