Apple TV+'s 'The Studio' Turns Beyonce's Animated Reaction to Winning a Grammy Into Satire Gold and It Might Be Their Best Bit Yet

Published 2 weeks ago3 minute read

Apple TV+ original TV show, The Studio, is turning heads globally, with Seth Rogen, along with some Hollywood legends like Ike Barinholtz and Kathryn Hahn, running a studio called The Continental, and together they greenlight movies, give notes, make changes to the movies to fit the global standards, and show the chaos that follows when a movie has to be made.

The series is gaining a lot of attention, mainly due to the legit directors, actors, and other Hollywood legends becoming common faces and showing their life in a whole different light than what people are used to seeing, and it’s not just real people that the series uses, it also takes inspiration from real events and puts it in their stories to make a hilarious storyline. The eight episodes of The Studio have recently been released, and it looks like the series took a dig at Beyoncé’s reaction to winning the Best Country album at the Grammys.

The theme of the eighth episode was the Golden Globes and how studio heads don’t get enough credit from actors for greenlighting the movie. Like all episodes of The Studio, this one was filled with sarcasm, a tense Rogen, and actors despising Rogen. But the most interesting part of the series comes when Adam Scott wins an award and his surprised reaction resembles Beyoncé’s when she won an award.

In the series, when the Grammy host calls the name of Adam Scott for winning Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film, he quickly looks up, shocked, and looks around at the people seated at his table with confusion, and this looked pretty similar to the 2025 Grammy event when Beyoncé won the Best Country album award for her country album Cowboy Carter. Many felt like the album was not a hit, and it was a win handed to Beyoncé.

Her reaction to winning the award was pretty similar to Scott’s. After her name was announced, she was as shocked as the rest of the viewers, and this animated expression became a popular meme soon after, to add on to the whole Beyoncé controversy, even the scene where everyone is thanking Sal Saperstein, felt like a callout to Grammy winners need to thank the American singer.

For a series like The Studio that often takes inspiration from real-life events, it won’t be hard to assume that they took a dig at Beyoncé, while no official statements have been made on whether it’s true, but it’s always fun to watch Scott’s reaction, keeping Beyoncé in mind.

This time at the TIME100 Gala held at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, the Lumon Industries employee actor Adam Scott joined other influential people to join the list. It was the recent performance in the second season of Severance that solidified his legacy, which has been growing since the Scorsese movie The Aviator.

His roles in series and movies like Parks & Recreation, The Good Place, and Step Brothers have helped him cement his legacy in Hollywood. Over the years, he has become someone with an incredible range who is not just bound by funny series or movies, it was his role in Severance that showed his incredible range and the final hammer on the nail to push him to the list.
