Apple's iPhone 17 Dummy Leaks Expose the Pro Models and Ultra-Thin Air Model | Markets Insider
Apple’s (AAPL) forthcoming models for the iPhone 17 Pro series and Air model were exposed by longtime leaker Sonny Dickson, who shared images of the dummies on Sunday. The leaks particularly highlight one of the ultra-slim iPhone 17 models, which people believe will be dubbed the iPhone 17 Air. Dickson shared images of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max phones from all angles, giving a sneak peek at their expected launch this fall.
These dummy blanks are shared with manufacturers ahead of the phone’s release, allowing cases, holders, and other accessory designers to match the exact dimensions and button placements of the designs. These dummies can only expose the exterior/hardware upgrades of the iPhones, customers will have to await until the actual launch to know about the advanced software features.
According to a Bloomberg report released by Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air will be about 2 millimeter thinner (as thin as 5.5mm) than the predecessors. Apparently, the design also hints at the iPhone Air going completely port-free (no USB-C connector). This would mean utilizing the wireless charging technology and cloud syncing features, similar to how the Apple Watch charges wirelessly on a charging pad. Despite the thickness and the wireless charging, the iPhone Air is expected to have the same powerful battery life as the current line of iPhones.
The dummies suggest that the iPhone Air could feature a 6.6-inch display, a single rear camera, and the new in-house Apple chip, the Apple C1. Gurman also believes that the iPhone Air could be priced the same as the iPhone 16 Plus, at roughly $900. What’s worth noting is that the iPhone Air’s slim look could be a step closer toward Apple’s dream of manufacturing the first folding iPhone.
