The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has assured members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State that no aspirant will be imposed on the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adelabu gave the assurance while meeting with APC leaders and stakeholders from the Ogbomoso and Oyo zones as part of his consultations toward actualising his 2027 governorship ambition.

Addressing party faithful at the residence of a party chieftain, senator Ayoade Adeseun, in Ogbomoso, Adelabu declared his readiness to contest the governorship, stating that he would prove his capacity through healthy competition.

“I’m up to the task. I want to show them that I can withstand and survive competition and come out victorious,” he said.

The power minister appealed to party stakeholders to unite ahead of the next general elections and urged aggrieved members to forgive past grievances, stressing the importance of returning APC to power in 2027.

“I’m here to tell you that I want to contest for governor of Oyo State in 2027. I’m ready to put to test all the experience I’ve gathered from the past two elections. I’m not against other zones becoming governor of the state; all I know is that God’s time is the best.

“Ogbomoso is very important in this state election. I’m here to seek your support and backing. I’m happy to see that all the factions in Ogbomoso are now one.”

The minister also called on the people of the zone to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, arguing that his continued leadership would bring more democratic dividends to the South-West.

He said, “This is another turn of the Yorubas to serve their two terms as President of Nigeria. Nigeria has a lot to benefit if Tinubu is re-elected.”

In Oyo town, where he continued his consultations, Adelabu reiterated his readiness to run an inclusive government if elected.

Also speaking at the meeting, Adeseun and Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, son of the late former governor, called on party members to unite and work for the return of the APC in 2027.
