Angelina Jolie Wore a Breezy Skirt and Ballet Flats, Get the Look

Published 2 days ago2 minute read

Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.

If your spring outfits have not been hitting, the next course of action is to add some spice.

On May 12, Angelina Jolie was the latest on an evolving list of celebrities to ditch jeans and sneakers in favor of the tasteful combo of a breezy skirt and ballet flats. Jennifer Lawrence and Hilary Duff also recently put on the ritz in similar styles.

Jolie also peppered in black accessories, including a pair of sunglasses and a handbag (plus, the black trim on her flats!) and topped things off with a dark gray sweater.

All of these celebrities in breezy skirts recently inspired me to dust off one of my own. I also styled mine with a sweater and ballet flats to feel comfy and look cute for Easter brunch. (It was also stretchy enough for my full stomach afterward.)

My skirt has tiers, which I think makes it a little more shapely, but I also want a more classic A-line shape like Jolie’s. Quince has this $50 silhouette that’s made from 100 percent cotton. It’s also the “perfect mix of high end dressing but with a casual side,” according to one shopper — which is exactly how I like my outfits to be.

I’ve never been to the Hamptons nor Cannes, but these are the kind of shoes I’d expect to find there. TL;DR, they look expensive. That said, they seem to balance style with support — if even the brand’s block heels were comfortable, surely these flats are even more so.

A few years ago, I would have said it was plain stupid to buy any sort of sweater or long-sleeve in the warm months. But clearly, my frontal lobe has fully developed because now sweaters are as essential as, if not more than, tank tops and other styles.

This one, which comes in a whole assortment of colors, is super affordable, so I feel better knowing I’m not throwing a ton of money at something that’s not even technically in-season. Plus, it’s “light” and “almost like a heavy T-shirt,” wrote one shopper.
