Angel Reese responds to Chicago Sky drafting former teammate Hailey Van Lith in 12 words

Published 2 weeks ago3 minute read

The Chicago Sky made a few interesting choices in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft. The Sky selected power forward Ajsa Sivka with the No. 10 pick in the draft.

Sivka plays the same position as Reese, but she is a better scorer. Sivka is expected to come off the bench, but some think the Sky could replace Reese with Sivka. Sivka wasn’t the only PF the team took, as Chicago drafted Maddy Westbeld in the second round, who is known for her rebounding skills.

With the No. 11 pick, the Sky selected Haily Van Lith out of TCU. She was a teammate of Reese’s at LSU in 2023-2024.

Per Charlie Creme of ESPN, Van Lith will help Chicago with the pick and roll.

That extra year in college was a brilliant move for Van Lith, as it is unlikely she would have been taken this high after her 2023-24 season with LSU,” Creme wrote. “But she reestablished herself as a star with TCU and during the summer playing 3-on-3 basketball at the Olympics.

“Excelling in the pick and roll — which she could now run with Reese and Cardoso — Van Lith learned to finish better in Fort Worth and is more of a playmaker than she ever was during the previous four years of her college career. She will also have Courtney Vandersloot from whom to learn.”

Following news that she was reuniting with Van Lith, Reese sent her former teammate a 12-word message.

“We ain’t do it right the first time,” Reese posted. “Let’s run it backkkkk.”

Reese was referencing the fact that LSU fell short in their bid to win back-to-back national championships in 2024. They were bounced in the Elite Eight by Caitlin Clark and Iowa.

Van Lith transferred after LSU’s championship in 2023.
