Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has vowed to retaliate against the killing of any police officer or resident by non-state actors, emphasizing that such violence will not be tolerated under his watch.

Orutugu, an Ijaw man, declared that his people do not fear anyone, stressing that Anambra does not deserve the persistent bloodshed it has endured for years.

“Every time, what we hear in Anambra is killings, kidnappings, and all sorts of crimes fueled by people we don’t know. Such a thing cannot continue under my watch,” he stated.

He highlighted the state’s legacy of producing prominent figures like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda Adichie, and Emeka Anyaoku.

Speaking when The Razor management paid him a courtesy visit, Orutugu noted that Anambra had recorded a significant milestone—one month without a single gunshot or killing.

He attributed this achievement to divine grace, security collaboration, and community cooperation.

On the Monday sit-at-home order, Orutugu expressed optimism that peace was returning, as ongoing campaigns had reached both residents and those enforcing the directive.

He warned criminals still plotting attacks, declaring that security forces would firmly resist them. “Enough is enough,” he said.
