Amit Shah Cancels Bengal Visit Due to Eid Festivities

Kolkata, March 24, 2025 (KalimNews) – Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called off his planned visit to West Bengal at the end of March, according to an announcement made on Saturday by West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar. The reason cited for the postponement is the upcoming Eid festival.
Shah was initially scheduled to arrive in the state on March 29 for a two-day visit, during which he was expected to engage in a series of meetings with key party leaders and workers on March 30. Notably, the itinerary did not include any plans for a public rally.
With the 2026 elections drawing closer, the BJP has been ramping up its activities in West Bengal, aiming to consolidate its position in the state. Shah's visit was widely regarded as a vital component of the party's strategy for the approaching electoral contest. However, the decision to postpone reflects respect for the cultural and religious observances of the region.
In a formal statement, Majumdar explained, "Amit Shah's visit to Bengal in March has been canceled. Given that Eid falls on the 31st, he has decided to postpone his visit to honor the festival. We will announce his rescheduled itinerary in the near future. Numerous central leaders are expected to visit Bengal in the coming days as part of our ongoing election preparations."
Simultaneously, the BJP is proceeding with its organizational elections within West Bengal. Commenting on the party's internal restructuring efforts, Majumdar noted, "The BJP functions as an organizational party. We have already announced most of the district presidents. While presidential elections in 18 districts are still pending, we anticipate announcing the remaining district presidents very soon."
Despite the postponement of Shah’s visit, the BJP is maintaining its active presence and initiatives to reinforce its base in West Bengal as it gears up for the pivotal elections.
