Allois Cheruiyot: Eldoret Residents Demonstrate in Streets After Learning Beloved Priest Was Killed
Residents of Tot in Eldoret county are up in arms after the brutal death of Reverend Father Allois Cheruiyot Bett of St. Matthias Mulumba Tot Parish.
According to the police, Allois was sadly found dead on Thursday, May 22, after he was accosted by armed attackers in Mokoro location, Kakiptul sub-location.
Most of his parishioners and other Kenyans who lived in the area described the beloved father, who served diligently under the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret, as a devoted servant of God.
They also said that he was a compassionate soul, as well as a pillar of hope to many people.
“I just couldn't believe he's gone. Our very own Allois; our great Chaplain so sad. And what is Murkomen still doing in the Ministry of Interior Security ministry .R I.P Father Alois ,” said Mount Kibbe.

In a video shared by the Hujambo Mkatoliki Facebook page, tens of Tot residents are seen wailing, quietly weeping and angrily walking in the streets with twigs to protest the death of the beloved priest.
A scroll through social media shows how the loving and caring Catholic priest shot dead in Kerio Valley while on his way to conduct a service to care for his people was loved.
Many people also knew Allois for his peace efforts as well as selfless service; he was often ministering to far-flung villages under humble conditions.
Locals maintained that he was their ray of hope and faith; MP Timothy Toroitich called his death a sacrifice so that peace could last in their region.
The burning question in the hearts and on the lips of many was why such a good man, with a heart for the community, had to die in such a brutal way.

Another story revealed Allois, singing in a glorious manner just before he was sadly gunned down.
In a heartwarming viral video, the priest is seen leading a congregation in song and and it touched both those who knew him and those who were only seeing him for the first time.
The congregants couldn’t help but gracefully join the cleric in singing, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the process.
The song was a prayer that asked God for forgiveness; it also expressed complete surrender to His care, love, and embrace
