Alleged fraud: Court halts EFCC's fraud case against Eezee Tee

Published 1 week ago1 minute read

Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos has suspended the hearing of the fraud case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as Eezee Tee, citing an ongoing administrative procedure.

The EFCC has brought a four-count charge against Onyedikachi for alleged fraudulent conversion.

At Thursday’s hearing, senior advocates Chikaosolu Ojukwu and Dr. Monday Ubani represented Onyedikachi, while Bilikisu Buhari appeared for the EFCC. Unlike the previous hearing, where he was absent, Onyedikachi was present in court.

Justice Owoeye informed both parties that he could not make any pronouncements on the case due to the ongoing administrative process.

“There is an administrative procedure underway in this case, and until it is completed, I cannot make any pronouncement on it,” the judge stated.

He also declined Ojukwu’s request for both parties to maintain the status quo until the process was completed. The case was subsequently adjourned to May 14.
