Aline Coudouel
Lead Economist, World Bank
Aline Coudouel is currently a lead economist managing the Sahel Adaptive Social Protection Program (SASPP). Prior to this, she held various lead economist positions at the World Bank Group's Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice, including in South Asia, West and Southern Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked as a researcher for the United Nations Children’s Fund, where she focused on the welfare of children and women in Europe and Central Asia. Aline holds a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute.
Already reaching over half the world’s population, social protection systems—such as social registries, early warning systems, and delivery mechanisms—present an untapped opportunity to channel climate funds to help vulnerable communities adapt to climate change, enhancing the reach, efficiency, and impact of climate finance.
