Aldi to sell alcoholic beverages at all Long Island stores - Newsday
Grocery store chain Aldi will sell alcoholic beverages at all its Long Island stores starting June 13.
Aldi will offer beer, cider and ready-to-drink "adult beverages," according to a news release. The company said all the drinks will be under $15. The drinks include Wernesgruner Lemon Radler beer, Wicked Grove Blueberry Cider, Locken’s Tropical Pineapple Kolsch beer, Limaveza Lime Lager beer and the All Play Margarita Variety Pack.
The alcohol will be available at all 15 Aldi stores on Long Island, the company confirmed, including the upcoming Medford location, which opens June 12.
The grocery chain's alcoholic offerings have received critical acclaim, with three of the store's wines being named "Wine Enthusiast Selections" in 2025.
Aldi was founded in 1961 in Germany by the Albrecht family, according to the company website. Aldi opened its first U.S. location in Iowa in 1976 and has since expanded to more than 2,400 stores across the country, with 45,000 employees.
The company continues to grow, and announced in March that it had purchased Southeastern Grocers and its approximately 400 Winn-Dixie stores and Harveys Supermarkets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. In 2024, Newsday reported that the company plans to invest $9 billion to add 800 new U.S. stores by the end of 2028
