Footage from surveillance cameras at Mbagathi Hospital has shown how police delayed for a time before taking Albert Ojwang in for medical help.

The blogger had been carried at the back of the police vehicle, which arrived at the hospital at around 1:35 am on Sunday, June 8, parking beside an ambulance.

The vehicle had three officers in the driver's compartment.

A lifeless Ojwang was at the back alone.

The uniformed officers alighted and were seen conversing while making movements around the parking lot.

A few seconds after arrival, they are seen walking into the hospital to engage the on-duty medics before returning to the parking area.

At the parking lot, the officers are captured separately talking on the phone, before going inside the hospital at exactly 1:46 am, after which they leave the hospital for the parking lot, this time with a white stretcher bed.

They seem unbothered by time and the urgency of the emergency at hand.

At 1:50 am, the officers prepare the stretcher bed behind the vehicle, remove the body.

They then wheel it, draped in a white cloth, into the hospital at 1:59 am, with the hospital's private guard helping them at the main entrance.

The officers remained in the hospital for about 10 minutes, as they were seen wheeling the body out at 2:10 am, this after the medics confirmed Ojwang had died.

One of the officers had a document, presumably the medics' report after assessing Ojwang.

They placed the body back into the vehicle and drove away at 2:15 am.

Later in his report seen by TUKO.co.ke, Mbagathi's resident medical officer, Shah Mitali, said Ojwang was brought to the hospital unresponsive, with no spontaneous breathing, and no cardiac activity.

His entire body was cold, his face visibly swollen, multiple bruises on the scalp, cuts on the occipital region and bruises on the limbs.

Who is investigating Albert Ojwang's murder?

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is chiefly investigating the murder of the blogger.

Already in custody is the interdicted officer commanding the Central Police Station, Samson Talam, and Constable James Mukhwana, the sentry who was on duty when Ojwang was booked in.

The deceased's ill-fated arrest followed a complaint against him by Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat, who had reported him to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)'s Serious Crimes Unit for alleged defamation.
