Alan Ritchson Shares Behind the Scenes Look at New Action Movie 'Runner'

Published 1 month ago3 minute read

Alan Ritchson has become a fan-favorite when it comes to his role as Jack Reacher in the Prime Video series based on the novels of Lee Child. That means audiences are waiting to lap up his other action offerings, which include his new adrenaline-pumped thriller, Runner , which is currently filming. Sharing a new look at the movie in a behind-the-scenes shot, Ritchson revealed that he has been “exhausted” with the demanding shoot.

Having previously appeared in several big action movies, including Fast X, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, and The Expendables 4, Ritchson’s new movie sees him reteam with the latter movie’s director, Scott Waugh, and expectations are already high that Runner will be another huge action blockbuster for the star. Runner will follow Hank Malone, a courier given a short window of time for transferring a liver between two Australian cities. Along with Ritchson, the cast includes Owen Wilson, Leila George, Rodrigo Santoro, Geraldine Hakewill, Sullivan Stapleton, and Adriana Barraza. Little else is known about the movie at this point, but from Ritchson’s update, he is giving his all to the production.

Alan Ritchson Was in an Uber Low-Budget Western That No One Will Ever See

'Rex,' the obscure 2008 western action film starring Alan Ritchson, will never see the light of day (and that's probably for the best).

In a reel of images shared on his Instagram account, Ritchson is seen flopped in the seat of a filming vehicle, which is probably the image that sums up his comment of, “It’s exhausting.” Additional images show the Reacher star getting physical in a fight scene, and director Waugh checking his work via a monitor. While it’s all in a day's work for a professional like Ritchson, it certainly doesn’t look like a walk in the park.

As well as filming Runner, and working on Netflix actioner War Machine, Alan Ritchson will be returning to Prime Video as Jack Reacher. Season 4 was reportedly already given the green light before Season 3 rolled out. With dozens of books to draw from, as long as Reacher continues to pull in huge audiences, then it would be foolish to bring the show to an any anytime soon.

For many, the big question is not about whether Ritchson will continue as Reacher, but if he will be given the chance to be the next actor to play the Dark Knight in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU. There have been several rumors of Ritchson being top of many fan-casting lists, and the actor himself has been very vocal about possibly taking on the role of the Caped Crusader in The Bold and the Brave.

"This is a… what's amazing to me about this rumor of the Batman or the Batman desire and the zeitgeist is the fact that James Gunn has personally announced publicly on his Twitter or X or whatever, 'LOL, he's not playing Batman. He is not playing Batman!' And this thing will not die. I get asked every day if I'm playing Batman. Yeah, would I play Batman? Yes. Would I pay handsomely to be Batman? You wouldn't even have to pay me to be Batman. I would, yeah, I would don the suit. 'Gotham is mine.' Look at that. I don't even have to practice. It just comes out naturally.”
