Air India Flight 171 crash: Black box in India, investigation underway by AAIB, confirms aviation minister Naidu

said that the black box of the Air India 171 flight that crashed on June 12 in Ahmedabad is in India and is being investigated by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).He was speaking with the media on the sidelines of the 7th Helicopters and Small Aircraft Summit 2025 in Pune.

When asked if the black box was in India, Naidu said, “It is very much in India.”

Answering to the question on when the government was expecting to get the black box recording, the minister said “This is a very technical matter and AAIB will be doing it. I don’t want to put any pressure. Let them go through the whole process.”

Naidu said that it was a speculation that the black box was being sent

The AAIB, which is doing the probe, has to form a panel to investigate the Air India crash. Usually, this panel is announced within a week. “The investigation has started from day one. The AAIB is doing the investigation according to the rules and the procedures. We want to keep seriousness on the investigation. The AAIB is in charge of the investigation. They are keeping the black box.
