An investigation was launched into the Air India Flight 171 crash, which happened shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12, resulting in the loss of 241 lives.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, India's top agency for aviation crash investigations, led the probe into the incident, which marked the first fatal accident of a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, confirmed that possible sabotage was one of the angles being examined, Hindustan Times reports.

He also noted that a CCTV footage was also under review to determine what caused the devastating crash.

Mohol stated:

"The AAIB has begun a full investigation into it. It is being probed from all angles, including any possible sabotage. The CCTV footage are being reviewed and all angles are being assessed. Several agencies are working on it."

The investigation focused on analysing data from the plane's black boxes, which were recovered from the site and sent to Delhi for examination.

Officials were working to understand the sequence of events that happened before the crash and identify the potential cause.

Multiple possibilities were being considered, including sudden power loss or engine failure, system malfunction, and human error.

Aviation safety expert Amit Singh noted that a thorough analysis of the black box data would be crucial in determining the cause of the crash.

Singh said:

"A B787 aircraft has extremely powerful engines. It is hard to guess what went wrong. It looks like the pilot could not get adequate thrust and realised the issue immediately after take-off."

The pilots had made a Mayday call shortly after takeoff, indicating an in-flight emergency. The government emphasised that the analysis of the black box data was ongoing, and several agencies were working together to identify the cause of the tragedy.

The investigation aimed to provide a clear understanding of the crash, and the authorities were committed to determining the truth behind the devastating incident.

"This is so tragic to think all those souls are gone & their final moment comes to an abrupt end this way. Life is so precious RIP."

"The most difficult moment for pilots is during preparation and during landing. It is said that the recent investigations dealt with the captain’s seat sliding backward while the plane was taking off from the ground, and his hand hit the throttle, which caused the engines to idle and the plane to crash."

@Rose said:

"Such a sad and tragic loss. My thoughts are with the family and everyone affected by this incident."

@Elisa reacted:

"My sincere condolences for both families, relatives and friend’s. Devastated sad, heartbroken. Fiongal and Jamie, both died on tragic Air India crash. Lovely couple, so happy together, very caring. Rest in peace AMEN, from London."

@RJaalexx added:

"Has to be electrical failure or fuel starvation that prevented the engines from reaching full thrust power. When it occurs at low altitude, an imminent stall is inevitable! Sincere thoughts & prayers for those who lost their loved ones in this terrible tragedy. Truly hope they confirm the root cause with an urgent aviation safety review."

@Zoya added:

"I live near the plane crash it was very horrible thing I ever saw omg when it crashed I heard a sound like booom i thought it's a bomb when I come outside there was so much fire and smoke omg that was rlly horrible, all the passengers died and they all burned and my some relatives were on this plane."
