AI-Travel Planner: What It Created For a Weekend Adventure in Baltimore
Baltimore has a special place in my heart. Not only did my dad grow up here, but from 2011 to 2015, I lived here on and off while working on four seasons of a TV show in town. My son often accompanied me in Baltimore while his dad worked on an international show and was out of the country. Because my son was with me, we often spent our weekends exploring kid-friendly options around the city. Using the Only In Your State AI-Travel Planner tool, I decided to see how it would plot out a family-friendly weekend getaway to Baltimore in September. It's been a while since I've returned to the city, and I'm itching to visit soon.
With simple prompts —city/state, how long of a trip, what month, who you're going with, and interests—this tool can generate an itinerary in no time. Scrolling through, I thought it did a pretty good job of creating a family-friendly weekend itinerary during September. Here's what it came up with for a "Family Weekend Getaway in Baltimore: Exploring History, Nature, and Culinary Delights:"
The AI tool chose two solid family-friendly options. The first one, Port Discovery Children’s Museum, was one of my son's favorite places to spend an afternoon during our time in Baltimore. I think his younger sister will have just as much fun when we make a return visit. This museum has three floors filled with interactive activities best for kids ages 8 and younger.
I think my kids and I will enjoy walking through the Baltimore Farmers Market, a leisurely Sunday activity. Since 1977, this farmers market has brought local businesses and the community together. It will be fun grabbing a locally made trinket or even some produce or baked goods while here.
Since 1915, Attman’s Delicatessen has been a local landmark Jewish deli with the best sandwiches in town. My office used to order sandwiches from here, and they are truly incredible! I know my kids will enjoy grabbing lunch here. The Prime Rib, another historic eatery and classic steakhouse, is a great choice for dinner. While pricy, the food is absolutely worth it. I think the Travel Planner did rather well with these options.
The handy travel planning tool chose two hotels in the Inner Harbor area, within walking distance of numerous family-friendly activities. One option is the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore, which is easily considered one of the best hotels in Maryland. Steeped in luxury, this waterfront hotel has an outdoor pool with views, a spa, on-site restaurants, and a fitness center. While anyone would want to stay here, including my kids, this may be a little out of my budget.
Located on North Charles Street inside a building that once housed the B&O Railroad Headquarters, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore has the perfect mix of historic character and modern amenities. With an on-site restaurant, a fitness center, and bikes to borrow, this seems like the best option for my family.
I think the AI-Travel Planner is a helpful tool that can relieve some of the stress of planning a getaway, whether for a day, a weekend, a week, or a month. I like that you can select the option of who you're going with, so it can tailor the itinerary accordingly. All in all, I would use it again! Tell me, would you use it to plan your travels?
