AI-Travel Planner: A Weekend Adventure in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Sometimes it feels like technology is taking over society, with AI being an almost daunting new kid on the block. However, the more I learn about AI, the more I see it as a helpful tool, especially for something like planning travel. I typically go into a rabbit hole for hours while planning travel, and, as a busy single mom, I really don't have the time. Planning a trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana, recently, I used the new Only In Your State AI-powered travel planning dashboard to help. I will take you through how to use this tool, what I entered into the dashboard, the results it gave, and my thoughts.
The Only In Your State Travel-Planning Dashboard is incredibly simple to use with a short series of questions, including how long of a trip, who you're going with, what month, and your interests. Within seconds, it combs the website for related articles written by our talented writers and puts them into an itinerary that reflects the amount of time you wish to be away. I chose a romantic weekend getaway with my partner in July. Here are the results:
My boyfriend and I love spending time in nature, so I was pleased to see the AI tool suggest two nature-oriented destinations around Fort Wayne. One of the options, Bicentennial Woods Nature Preserve, is just over 12 miles away in Huntertown. With hills and woodland paths, it's the perfect spot for a romantic hike.
Approximately 28 miles away in Albion, Chain O’ Lakes State Park is the second option I was given. We could enjoy a wonderful day trip outdoors here with miles of trails, a nature center, and the option to be out on one of the lakes.
The AI tool provided three very distinct options. For a quick bite, Fort Wayne’s Famous Coney Island is a classic choice. Since 1914, this is a must-try eatery for famous Coney Island hot dogs served on steamed buns and topped with chopped onions, Coney sauce, and mustard.
We love dining at farm-to-table restaurants because they use fresh, local ingredients and serve healthier fare. The AI pick of Tolon is perfect for a romantic dinner during our Fort Wayne getaway. For drinks, The Hoppy Gnome seems to be an obvious choice. You order a pint of one of the many craft beers on tap, as well as cocktails, wine, and shareable bites.
The Travel Planner chose a vacation rental in Kendallville, 28 miles from Fort Wayne, for a private and romantic stay. While we would prefer to be in the city, this is a great option if we are looking for a farm stay in Indiana. On-site is a veterinary clinic, and the farm offers horse boarding.
The other option I was given was for Treehouse Island, located 42 miles away in North Webster. Accessible via boat only, this option would be perfect if we were looking for a remote, romantic getaway.
Overall, the AI Travel tool did a decent job of finding things to do and places to eat. While the two chosen accommodations are interesting, and I would love to stay at each one, I'd prefer accommodations in the city for this romantic weekend getaway in Fort Wayne.
So, what are your thoughts on using AI to plan your travels? I know AI can be daunting, but this AI Travel Planning Dashboard is easy to use and offers suggestions you may not have thought of for your getaway. That was my experience, anyway. Why not try it yourself?
