AI Board convenes for its fourth meeting to advance EU AI policy | Shaping Europe's digital future
The AI Board, composed of high-level representatives from EU Member States, is convening on 30 June under the chairmanship of Poland.
The AI Board is expected to provide steering on key initiatives on AI innovation policy. It will discuss and give feedback on the Commission’s planning for the Apply AI Strategy, due to be published in September 2025. AI Board members will also discuss next steps on the AI Factories and AI Gigafactories.
The AI Board will also discuss current priorities for the AI Act implementation. Professor Yoshua Bengio will give AI Board members an outlook on the final Code of practice on general-purpose AI models in his role as Chair of the Working Group 3 (Technical risk mitigation). AI Board members will also receive a progress update on the work of the standardisation organisation CEN-CENELEC in support of the AI Act, presented by JTC-21 Chair Dr Sebastian Hallensleben. Finally, the meeting will serve to discuss the progress of the national governance ahead of the implementation deadline on 2 August 2025.
The outcomes of Monday’s meeting will help shape the next steps in the EU’s AI innovation policy and AI Act implementation.
This meeting will be the last AI Board meeting under the chairmanship of Poland, before the handover to Denmark, which will assume the role of Chair with the beginning of their Presidency of the Council of the EU on 1 July 2025.
