Ahmedabad receives 4mm rain as rainfall continues across Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The city received an average of 4mm of rainfall by 8pm on Wednesday. Citizens experienced light showers in the morning and afternoon as cloudy weather persisted until the evening in most areas of the city.

The forecast for Thursday indicated chances of light to moderate rain or thundershowers for the city. The cloudy weather kept the maximum temperature at 32.9°C, which was 5 degrees lower than normal. At 26.2°C, the minimum temperature was also 1.2 degrees lower than normal.With a vigorous monsoon, rainfall continued across Gujarat as 112 out of 252 talukas received at least 1mm of rain by 8pm. On Thursday, heavy rains are expected in parts of Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Gir Somnath, with light to moderate rainfall in the rest of Gujarat, including parts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.The IMD forecast indicated chances of heavy to very heavy rains in several districts of south Gujarat for the next six days. Banaskantha and Sabarkantha may receive heavy rains on June 23, added the forecast. Ahwa (182mm), Vaghai (131mm), and Subir (118mm) in Dangs received the highest rainfall by 8pm in Gujarat on Wednesday. In total, 14 talukas received more than 50mm of rainfall, all in south Gujarat districts and Gir Somnath district, indicated the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
