The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has lauded the government for leveraging global economic shifts to create an enabling environment for business growth.

Speaking during a meeting with the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the President of AGI, Dr Humphrey Ayim Darke, expressed the association's unflinching support for the government's ongoing efforts and pledged to translate these economic gains into benefits for consumers.

"We commend the government and also assure them that we are committed to reflecting these gains in our pricing and various business activities. As my colleague stated, it is the forces of demand and supply that determine prices in the market," he said in a Channel One TV report shared on X, on May, 14, 2025.

According to him, the association expects the appreciation of the cedi to begin influencing wholesale and retail prices within the next 60 days.

Looking ahead to the mid-year budget review, AGI hopes for further fiscal responsibility and continued partnership between industry and government.

Dr Darke also cautioned against excessive government spending amid recent economic improvements.

"We sincerely believe that within the next 60 days, this impact will be reflected in the final prices of our wholesale and retail products. We also strongly believe that in the mid-year budget review, we will see further reflection and commitment from the government regarding these gains. We urge the government to carefully engage in austerity measures concerning fiscal expenditures," he added.
