After 'Black Panther', Kendrick Lamar creates new soundtrack for 'Captain America: Brave New World Soundtrack' | - The Times of India
Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar is set to drop new music on Friday, with the release of Marvel Studios' 'Captain America: Brave New World'.
The multi-Grammy Award winning singer, who previously collaborated with the studio for the 'Black Panther' soundtrack in 2018, has reportedly created a new track for the film that marks Anthony Mackie's first cinematic turn as the superhero.
The rumours were confirmed by Mackie, who opened up about Kendrick’s involvement during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Kendrick did the title song for my movie — I hope that’s not supposed to be a surprise,” Mackie revealed. “I’m breaking it here first, I’m so excited, man. The beauty and mastery of his craft.”
Meanwhile, according to reports, the track that plays during the film’s climactic end, is reportedly not a new song but rather one from 2014. Additionally, fans noted that his song N95 featured in the movie's trailers.
Lamar previously helmed Black Panther: The Album, producing hit songs like All the Stars, King’s Dead, and Pray for Me. The album was a commercial and critical success, topping the Billboard 200 in 2018 and earning Grammy nominations.
The rapper has had a busy week following his five Grammy Award wins and headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans.
He will soon hit the road with his Grand National Tour with fellow artist SZA. The tour kicks off in April across North America.
In 'Captain America: Brave New World', Mackie flies, fights and flings his famous shield in pursuit of world peace alongside flawed and mercurial president Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford.
Ross is attempting to negotiate an international treaty with America's allies to share a precious new metal discovered on an island in the Indian Ocean, but is being thwarted by his past associations and an international crime gang.
Directed by Nigerian-born Julius Onah, "Brave New World" features a diverse cast including Danny Ramirez and Xosha Roquemore.
Mackie has taken over from Chris Evans in the lead role of the popular film franchise, with his self-doubt and impostor syndrome a theme in the plot.
