Afreximbank to seal landmark deals, shape Africa's economic future at 2025 meeting
Afreximbank’S 32nd Annual Meetings (AAM2025) will mobilise major trade and investment deals, facilitate public-private partnerships, and catalyse billions of dollars in funding for key strategic sectors over the next decade.
According to Afreximbank, the event, which is slated for June 25 to 27, 2025, in Abuja, would also generate far-reaching economic and developmental benefits for Africa and its partners by strengthening policy frameworks that would deepen South-South cooperation and advance regional economic integration.
The bank stated that by bringing together Heads of State, policymakers, central bank governors, business leaders, academics, and trade experts from across Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond, AAM2025 will create a platform for high-level dialogue and action on shared economic priorities.
These include implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), modernising cross7-border payment systems, fostering Africa–Caribbean trade and tourism, and enhancing private sector participation in policy reforms.
President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Oramah, described AAM2025 as a timely intervention in a moment of global uncertainty.
He emphasised that the meetings would help build stronger institutions, enhance trade integration, and stimulate practical action to realise Africa’s development aspirations.
Oramah also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for hosting the event.
This year’s meetings, themed, ‘Building the Future on Decades of Resilience’, will focus on unlocking Africa’s potential through trade, investment, and innovation.
The agenda will drive conversations on reducing the cost of doing business, improving infrastructure, and creating an enabling environment for inclusive growth. AAM2025 is not only expected to deliver tangible outcomes, but also to shape long-term strategies for economic transformation.
The bank disclosed that distinguished global and regional leaders have confirmed their participation. Among them are President Tinubu; former president Olusegun Obasanjo; and African Union Commissioner for Economic Development, Tourism, Trade, Industry & Mining, Ambassador Albert Muchanga.
They will be joined by senior ministers, investors, and institutional leaders committed to advancing Africa’s development agenda.
The event will also feature prominent voices in global economics and business, including Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University, Dr. Kishore Mahbubani of the National University of Singapore, Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Dangote Group, and Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings. Other key participants include Professor Ghulam Mufti of King’s College London and former Jamaican Prime Minister, P.J. Patterson.
Building on the momentum of last year’s successful edition held in The Bahamas, AAM2025 marks a return to the African continent with renewed focus. Thousands of participants and media representatives from over 80 countries are expected to attend, reinforcing the event’s stature as a premier platform for shaping Africa’s economic future.
