Afenifere hails Oladele's appointment as Acting FCC chair

The appointment of Kayode Oladele as acting chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC) has been described as worthwhile by the Yoruba Socio-cultural Organisation, Afenifere.
Oladele, a former member of the House of Representatives from Ogun State, who has been a member, was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Afenifere National Organising secretary Kole Omololu in a statement gave reasons why Oladele’s appointment will benefit the agency and the country.
He said: “Even as a member of the House of Representatives, he introduced and co- sponsored the Public Holiday Amendment Act, which shifted the Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12 every year.
“He also introduced and sponsored the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit Act, which was signed into law by President Muhammad Buhari setting up a central body for processing intelligence related to financial transactions in Nigeria.
“Within Afenifere, he is recognized as a committed member whose contributions continue to resonate with the group’s vision for a just and equitable Nigeria.
“As one of us, we have unflinching confidence in Oladele’s demonstrable competence, experience, and integrity to deliver on the new mandate.”
Also, Afenifere yesterday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief C. O. Adebayo, a distinguished elder statesman and committed advocate of Yoruba values and progress.
The delegation, led by former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, conveyed the sympathies of Pa Reuben Fasoranti and members of Afenifere Worldwide to the bereaved family at their residence in Abuja.
