Adidas opens Lekki waterfront flagship store, reaffirms commitment to Nigerian market
Global sportswear brand adidas has officially launched its latest retail outlet in Nigeria with the grand opening of its flagship waterfront store on Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos. The event, held on July 2, marked a significant milestone in adidas’ retail strategy in Africa and was hosted in collaboration with LATC and its retail subsidiary, BrandCo.
The 3,000-square-meter store, located on a prime waterfront property, represents adidas’ focus on aligning global retail standards with local cultural identity. The store layout and curated experience reflect the brand’s commitment to Nigeria’s vibrant music, film, art, and technology sectors.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, declared the store open during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was attended by notable guests, including fashion and lifestyle influencers, representatives of the arts and sports communities, government officials, customers, and media professionals.

Guests were introduced to a diverse retail experience, with dedicated sections for various collections including Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto, adidas Originals, Stella McCartney activewear, Mercedes Motorsport gear, and a full range of football kits featuring top clubs like Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Juventus.
The store also features areas for men’s and women’s training gear, running apparel, and a children’s section with merchandise from Disney and performance wear tailored to youth sports and lifestyle needs.
Throughout the evening, attendees engaged with installations and activations based on adidas’ core pillars of brand, sport, and community. Local cuisine was served in line with the cultural theme of the event, and a fireworks display concluded the opening night.
The store’s launch campaign, “Your Stripes, Your Story,” highlighted adidas’ message of individuality and cultural relevance. According to the organisers, the theme invites athletes, artists, and consumers to embrace their personal narratives through the lens of sport, identity, and self-expression.
In a statement, LATC and BrandCo reaffirmed their long-term partnership with adidas, describing Nigeria not only as a viable retail market but also a centre of creativity and community. The Lekki store is expected to serve as both a shopping destination and a cultural space that reflects local values and global ambition.
