Actress Jumoke George in tears as she reunites with daughter rescued from Mali after four years
Actress Jumoke George has broken down in tears as she emotionally reunites with her 41-year-old daughter, Adeola, who was rescued from Mali after being missing for four years.
The reunion was captured in a video shared on Instagram late Monday by actress and Talk To B show host, Biola Adebayo, who played a key role in bringing the story to light.
In the video, Jumoke and Adeola fell to the ground in a tearful embrace, overwhelmed with emotion.
“Victory at last! Adeola is finally back home,” Biola wrote in the caption.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone that helped, I couldn’t have done this without your supports. Thank you Nigerians. Thank you to my dearest mummy Honorable Abike Dabiri @abikedabiri. Thank you to Miss Yakubu Oyiza Hope #lunaoyiza. Thank you to my dear brother #adeniyijohnson.”
Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, had earlier confirmed Adeola’s return earlier on Monday, revealing that she had been trafficked to Mali.
“Breaking! Adeola, daughter of popular actress Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years, is back home from Mali, where she was trafficked,” Dabiri wrote.
Jumoke had previously shared her ordeal in an emotional episode of the Talk To B show hosted by Abiola Bayo.
Fighting back tears, the actress revealed that she had been living in a church for six years, battling illness and the agony of her daughter’s disappearance.
“There are some things that are embarrassing to say, but at this point, I have no choice. I want to speak out,” she said.
“My first child, Adeola, has been missing. I’ve been looking for her for the past four years. Any small amount of money I got from work was spent looking for her.”
The actress explained that Adeola had been living with her grandmother in Ibadan before her sudden disappearance.
“My mother just called me one day to say that she hadn’t seen Deola, who said she was coming to meet me in Lagos. I said I haven’t seen her.”
Jumoke later received a heartbreaking call from Adeola, who asked for forgiveness and explained that she had left the country with friends in search of greener pastures but ended up in a dangerous situation.
