Abductors of Ondo students demand N15m ransom
Akure—Abductors of three students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State, at Oke Oge, a community near Oba Ile, in Akure North council area, Ondo State, have demanded for N15 million ransom.
A family source, told vanguard in Akure, that the kidnappers have reached out to the families of their victims.
Vanguard gathered that the victims who are industrial Training, IT, students in a farm were abducted on Saturday evening while returning close to Akure Airport.
The abductors reportedly ambushed and attacked the victims before forcing them into the forest close to the airport.
An eyewitness account said “those kidnapped are students at the Federal College of Agriculture Akure but undergoing their Industrial Training at the farm.”
Speaking on the abduction, the commander of the state security outfit codenamed Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the incident, saying “I can confirm to you that we are on top of the situation. They were kidnapped while returning from the farm.
Our men have been deployed to rescue them from the kidnappers’ den.”
Meanwhile, a family member of one of the victims, said they had pleaded with the abductors to reduce the ransom demanded but they have refused insisting that they would only release them after the payment of the N15m.
According to him ” we are in a serious situation, how do we raise N15m at this period. We have begged them to reduce the ransom but they have declined insisting on N15million.
“We want to appeal to government to assist us. The family cannot raise such an amount all alone. Our last hope is the government and members of the public. They should please come to our aid. There’s no one to assist us to raise this amount the kidnappers are requesting for before they will release them.
