Aamir Khan Expresses Box Office Concerns for 'Sitaare Zameen Par'

Actor Aamir Khan is preparing for the release of his upcoming sports comedy-drama, "Sitaare Zameen Par." He has described the film as a beautiful and heartwarming story, expressing his hope that the audience will connect with it deeply and feel its emotional core.

Despite his positive feelings about the film's content, Aamir Khan voiced concerns regarding its potential box office performance during an interview with Galatta Plus. He candidly stated, "When I look at the film today, I think I am quite happy with it. I think what we set out to make, we have made. Will it work at the box office? I have no idea." This uncertainty stems from his observations of current market trends and past experiences.

Khan elaborated on his concerns, pointing to the prevailing success of action films. "My film is a comedy, but right now only the action is working," he explained. He further noted, "The last 12 films have been action and blockbusters. So while I believe that it’s a very heartwarming and beautiful story which will connect very deeply with people, that’s what I am hoping. But right now, everyone wants to see action films." Aamir Khan also reflected on his career, sharing his perception that his films often have "ill-timed" releases, coinciding with periods when different genres are more popular.

Addressing the film's distribution, Aamir Khan firmly stated that "Sitaare Zameen Par" will be released exclusively in theatres. He unequivocally dismissed any reports or rumors suggesting that the film would premiere on OTT platforms or be released on YouTube.

"Sitaare Zameen Par" is produced under Aamir Khan's own banner, Aamir Khan Productions, and is directed by RS Prasanna. The film features Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in the lead roles. A notable aspect of the movie is the introduction of ten debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The creative team also includes Amitabh Bhattacharya, who penned the lyrics, and the renowned musical trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, who composed the music. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025.
