Reid is best known for being one-half of the musical duo Kid ‘n Play alongside . He also appeared in the cult-classic films House Party, House Party 2, and House Party 3.
Although it’s been decades since his Kid ‘n Play days, Reid and Martin, 62, look back on those days fondly. "Well, Kid was originally from the Bronx. And relocated to Queens where I was at. We eventually had a mutual love for what would be called hip-hop. Really it was just about what teenagers did," Martin recalled during a 2024 interview with CBS News. "Back in the day when dinosaurs roamed on the Earth," Reid joked.
Eventually, the duo decided to create something together, “never dreaming that it will lead to what it led to,” Reid mused. Kid ‘n Play released three albums together 2 Hype (1988), Funhouse (1990), and Face the Nation (1991).
Reid and Martin are still very close, they even host a podcast called "The Fun House with Kid N Play."
“I think in this fractured world, especially in the music and hip-hop scenes, the show is an attempt to bridge the gap and show that we’re not that far apart. We’re more aligned than we think,” Reid said of the show during an August 2024 interview. “Every artist has a journey, and very rarely is it an overnight thing."
