7 Things A Professional Organizer Always Buys At Costco

Published 18 hours ago3 minute read

Even the most savvy shoppers may step into a Costco warehouse and not know where to begin. From the towering shelves to the spread of quality goods, it might be hard to get your bearings. But professional organizers will tell you, Costco is actually an amazing place to purchase what you need to get your home in order.

“Costco has a wide variety of organizers to help you organize your home,” Jamie Hord, founder of Horderly Professional Organizing, tells Southern Living.

The first item Hord runs toward in a Costco warehouse? The classic yellow and black bins.

“They are a great pick for heavy-duty items,” Hord says of the stackable 27-gallon black bins which feature bright yellow snap-on tops and are great for basement and garage organization. A four pack of the bins retail for $49.99.

While the black and yellow bins might be a favorite among organizers, Hord included, she says there are plenty of other great buys at Costco for tidying up your home and getting your space organized, too.

After you've stocked up on the black-and-yellow bins, here are a few of her other must-buy items:

For kitchen organization, Linus says she is “all about” Linus bins for both cabinets and pantry.

“The bins help you easily categorize,” she says of the BPA-free clear plastic storage bins that feature integrated handles on each side for quick access and easy reorganization. A pack of four retails for $29.99.

When it comes to your bedroom and bathroom, Hord says not to skip this four-piece stackable organizer.

“This is a great stackable system to put on top of a dresser or vanity to keep beauty supplies organized,” she says of the shatter-proof plastic set. The set retails for $34.99.

No matter where you live, if you utilize a basement or attic, Hord says using clear weather-tight bins on a wire shelving system is essential.

Why? “To keep things up off the floor and pest and debris free,” she says.

The clear plastic weather-tight bins, which feature buckle latch tops, come in a set of four and retail for $49.99. The five tier wire shelving system, which features locking and non-locking wheels for easy movement, retails for $179.99.

New moms looking for a deal—and a way to keep their newborn’s closet organized—should pick up the flocked baby hangers from Costco.

“Baby hangers are a must for nursery closets, and this is a great deal for a 60 pack,” Hord says of the non-slip hangers that include notches for small-sized clothing. A 60-pack retails for $21.99.

Any parent knows that trying to keep a child’s room or a playroom orderly can cause even the most even-keeled person to delve into chaos, but Hord says the anecdote is simple: storage bins.

“Cube systems are great for kids rooms and playroom organization,” she says of the 8-cube storage bin system that can be arranged horizontally or vertically depending on your space and comes with eight cloth cubes. The cube system retails for $159.99.
