64% of Ghanaians unhappy with Afenyo Markin's role in ministerial vetting - Poll

The survey, conducted between January 30 and February 1, 2025, sampled 952 respondents through online and field interviews.

It found that 44% of respondents were “not satisfied at all” with Afenyo Markin’s performance, while an additional 20% expressed general dissatisfaction. In contrast, only 8% of respondents reported being “extremely satisfied” with his role in the vetting process.

The findings suggest growing public concern over the effectiveness and fairness of the Appointments Committee’s work.

Additionally, the poll indicated that 77% of Ghanaians believe the vetting process is being used for political point-scoring rather than an objective assessment of nominees’ competence and suitability for office.

The dissatisf action with Afenyo Markin’s performance comes amid broader scrutiny of parliamentary proceedings, including controversy over the Speaker’s decision to suspend four MPs, which has divided public opinion.

Despite this, the poll found that 63% of Ghanaians are generally satisfied with the work of the Appointments Committee as a whole.
