However, stocks such as Signpost India, Career Point, Navkar Builders, Borana Weaves and Capri Global, touched their fresh 52-week lows.

Overall, 7 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 43 closed in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Eternal, SBI, HDFC Bank, L&T and Bajaj Finserv were among top gainers during the day, while Bajaj Auto, Hindalco, Shriram Finance, HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra ended in the red.

The BSE Sensex closed 182.01 points down at 81451.01. Traders piled up positions in IT Enabled Services, General, Tourism & Hospitality, Retail and Auto sectors, while selling was witnessed in Aquaculture, Learning & Education, Textiles, Glass and Financial Services sectors during the day.
