Bhubaneswar: The death toll of workers from Odisha in the explosion at the chemical plant of Sigachi Industries in Telangana's Pashamylaram rose to eight, with authorities on Thursday confirming the identities of four more using DNA-based analysis.The four victims have been identified as Chaitu Bhadra and Ramesh Gouda from Nabarangpur district, Siddharth Gouda from Mahanandpur and Prashant Mohapatra from Berhampur, both in Ganjam.E

arlier, the authorities confirmed the death of four workers from Odisha. Out of the missing five workers, four deaths have been confirmed. One more sample has been sent for DNA test and the reports are awaited, officials said."The identity of the four workers has been established, and their mortal remains have been handed over to their families," Pritish Panda, officer on special duty with the directorate of Odisha Parivaar, who was sent to Telangana to oversee the rescue operation, said.Panda said that out of the four, one was cremated in Telangana, while the mortal remains of the other three have been sent to their native places through special ambulances.

"DNA samples of another Odia worker have been sent for examination, and the reports are awaited," he said.On Wednesday, officials confirmed the death of Rajnala Jagan Mohan from Ganjam, Lagnajeet Duari from Cuttack, Manoj Rout from Balasore and Dolagobinda Sahu from Jajpur. The families have demanded strict action against the company for the explosion.CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the next of kin of the eight deceased workers.

The CMO announced on X that a team of govt officials is present at the site to monitor rescue and medical operations.According to officials, the DNA samples of the missing worker, identified as Purna Chandra Sahu, a native of Sukarpada in Cuttack district, is awaited. If it confirms, then the death toll of Odisha workers in the blast would rise to nine, officials said.The explosion on June 30 claimed a total of 38 lives. Four more workers from Odisha who sustained injuries are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Telangana.
