2025 Summer Davos Forum Scheduled for Late June, Focusing on Entrepreneurship and Global Growth

The 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely recognized as the Summer Davos Forum, is scheduled to commence in Tianjin from June 24 to 26, 2025. This significant international gathering aims to bring together between 1,700 and 1,800 participants from over 90 countries and regions. The primary objective of the forum is to explore how entrepreneurship and innovation can effectively reignite global economic growth and facilitate strategic dialogue around pressing global challenges. The official announcement of the forum was made at a media conference held in Beijing on June 17, 2025, with key figures such as World Economic Forum managing director Gim Huay Neo, Tianjin vice-mayor Li Wenhai, and Chen Shuai, deputy director general of the National Development and Reform Commission's Department of International Cooperation, in attendance.
The forum is expected to host a diverse and influential group of attendees, including over 144 senior political figures from more than 30 countries and regions, among whom are 40 cabinet ministers. They will be joined by prominent business tycoons, government officials, civil society leaders, academics, and media representatives. Notable Chinese entrepreneurs, including TCL founder Li Dongsheng and JD.com chairman Liu Qiangdong, are also slated to participate. These discussions will delve into how regional development, emerging technologies, and evolving global supply chains are reshaping industries worldwide, with a specific focus on trends within China and the broader Asian continent.
The Summer Davos forum is themed "Entrepreneurship for a New Era" (also referred to as "Entrepreneurship in the New Era"), and its comprehensive agenda is structured around five core pillars: "Deciphering the World Economy," "Outlook on China," "Industries Disrupted," "Investing in People and Planet," and "New Energy and Materials." These thematic areas are designed to encourage in-depth discussions and provide new perspectives on critical global economic and social issues.
Chinese officials underscored the strategic importance of the forum for the nation. Chen Shuai highlighted that the event serves as a crucial platform to showcase China's achievements in high-quality economic development and its unwavering commitment to high-level opening-up. He extended an invitation to the global business community, encouraging their active participation in China's modernization process to share in the opportunities presented by its high-quality development. Tianjin vice-mayor Li Wenhai warmly welcomed international participants, urging them to experience firsthand the city's advancements in technology and emerging industries, thereby solidifying Summer Davos's role as a vital hub for meaningful international dialogues.
Gim Huay Neo of the World Economic Forum emphasized Asia's significant contribution to the global economy, characterizing it as "the most youthful region driving 60 percent of global economic growth," with China alone accounting for half of that contribution. She underscored the forum's capacity to foster essential partnerships for geo-economic progress and to offer participants valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding of development trends across both China and Asia.
For broader accessibility and engagement, over 40 sessions, including the opening plenary, will be livestreamed. The forum also plans to release key reports, such as the 2025 Energy Transition Index and Top 10 Emerging Technologies. Now in its 16th edition, building on its history which includes the 15th meeting held in Dalian in June 2024, the Summer Davos Forum continues to reinforce China's pivotal role as a catalyst for global innovation and economic recovery.
