2025 is Doechii's year - in both music and fashion

Published 6 days ago2 minute read

If you're not already familiar with Doechii, get prepared to be. The Florida-born rapper is making serious waves with her music, with everyone from Elle Fanning to Billie Eilish a fan. The 26-year-old went from strength to strength in 2024, announcing dates for her Alligator Bites Never Heal Tour, scoring front row seats to some of the biggest shows in the fashion calendar, and rounding it all off with a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Now, Doechii has confirmed her icon status, winning the Grammy for best rap album.

As any fan of Doechii's will know, the rapper leaves nothing to chance — least of all, her style. Whether it's in the sitcom-esque music video for her hit single 'Denial Is A River', performing an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, or walking the red carpet at the MTV Music Video Awards, the artist is adept at making head-turning fashion choices. She's also become a regular at the runway shows of some of the biggest fashion brands in the world. At the FW25 shows in Paris alone, she showed up for Valentino, Schiaparelli, Chloé, and Acne Studios, in looks to rival those on the runway. It helps, of course, that she has stylist Sam Woolf on her side, Together, the duo regularly reach for pieces from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Miu Miu, Thom Browne, and Willy Chavarria, to compile looks that are as impactful and versatile as her music.

Doechii also isn't afraid to get experimental when it comes to hair and makeup. In recent months, she's made face tape — and its cheekbone-enhancing effects — a signature addition to her beauty looks. As for hair, you need only look to her appearance on The LAte Show, where Doechii and her backup dancers were literally united with their braids, to understand the depth of the artist's creativity. Speaking to Essence, hair stylist Malcom Marquez explained the look was a reference to Solange’s 2016 performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “Connectivity was a theme we wanted to explore—how hair (specifically braids) connects us to each other, but also how hair connects us to ourselves,” he said.

So, in honour of what truly was Doechii's year, we're looking back at her best looks to date, below.
