2025: Anambra YPP blames APGA govt over killings, kidnappings
The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the November 8, 2025, election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has blamed the ruling All Progresses Grand Alliance (APGA) of poor handling of security measures, resulting in endless killings, kidnappings and other heinous crimes in the state.
Chukwuma, who spoke to newsmen in Awka, the state capital, yesterday, accused the APGA-led Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, of having lost proactive ideas to tame the menace of destruction of lives and property in the state.
The former National Auditor of APC alleged that the APGA administration in the state had literally been sleeping, hence its failure to nip insecurity in the bud over these past three years.
Chukwuma contended that the establishment of new security initiatives by the state government was belated and politically motivated.
“The Operation Udo Ga Achi and Agunechemba security outfits, which were launched by the state government to complement the police and other security outfits, were a scam”, Chukwuma alleged.
He spoke just as the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Uche Ekwunife, had lamented the state of security in the State, observing that the government did not rise to the occasion in a timely manner to ensure the protection of the lives and property of the citizenry.
Ekwunife told newsmen in Awka, the State capital, Sunday that the security of the citizens is the first priority of government and serves as an enabler for development in all sectors, saying the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) foot-dragged from inception.
