Published 10 hours ago2 minute read

A routine lecture at the College of Medicine, Ambrose Alli University, on 22nd May 2025, turned into a heartwarming moment of appreciation when the MED 2016 Batch B Clinical Set surprised their lecturer, Dr. Andrew Eigbedion, with a thoughtful birthday gift.

The session, which began at 1:18 p.m.—just 18 minutes behind schedule—was focused on “The School Health Programme.” Over the course of two hours, Eigbedion passionately delivered a detailed analysis of the topic, concluding at 3:18 p.m.

Class representative, Mr. Benson Oyakhilomen, politely stopped him with an unexpected announcement while planning to leave the classroom. What followed in the next 15 minutes was an emotional gesture that left Eigbedion deeply moved—a surprise birthday gift presented on behalf of the class.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Eigbedion expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a moment that would remain etched in his memory for years to come. “I am sincerely grateful for this act of love,” he said, praying for continued blessings upon the students.

The touching moment exemplifies the bond between educators and their students and highlights the culture of respect and gratitude nurtured within the university’s medical college.

Before now, the National President of the University Secondary School Ekpoma Old Students Association (USSEOSA), Engr. Ayemere Ogudo, hosted Eigbedion to a dinner party on 9th May 2025, to mark his birthday two days prior. The event also saw the conferment of the Distinguished Medical Practitioner award on Eigbedion.
The occasion was filled with so much fun, with a lot to eat and drink. Miss Geraldine Imokhai, Secretary of the University Secondary School Ekpoma, the Chairman and Secretary of the Home Branch of USSEOSA, and a few of the invited guests also graced the event.

Speaking at the occasion, Comrade Christopher Aikohi expressed the compliments of Ogudo, who resides in North America, as well as that of the substantive Principal of the School, Mrs. Ndudi Ajuwa. Mrs. Cordelia Aigbovboile, the Chairman of the USSEOSA Home Branch, and Engr. Harrison Aboiralor, the Home Branch USSEOSA Secretary, also expressed their congratulatory messages to Eigbedion.

The event came to a close with Eigbedion’s expression of gratitude to God Almighty for His grace upon his life. He also expressed his deep appreciation to Ogudo for expending his personal resources to host the event and for also identifying with him.
