Midi dresses hit that perfect sweet spot of being not too long but not too short either. It's a versatile dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion or your mood—and who doesn't want to wear something that strikes that perfect balance? While you can do that with fit and fabric, you can also do it with your accessories, namely, footwear.

Unlike a maxi dress, which may conceal your shoes, a midi hemline puts them on full display. All that to say, it requires some sartorial know-how. Fortunately, when it comes to figuring out what shoes to wear with a midi dress, there's really no limit, other than your imagination—and your shoe collection, of course.

"I personally think any shoe can go with a midi dress, depending on your style," says personal stylist Samantha Dawn. And given the myriad aesthetics out there—garden girl, normcore, and emo, to name a few—you've got options. To learn more about this classic pairing, Dawn is sharing her favorite footwear to style with a midi for every season, ahead.
