Firstly, here are the leading candidates to look out for.

CENTER / FORWARD

Birth Date: November 16, 2007 (17 years old) Height: 6ft 4in / 1.93 cm

The strength and athleticism of Okeke inside the paint will likely form a key thrust of the hosts' title challenge in La Palma. There's no doubt if she finds the level of form already shown in previous youth outings such as at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 when she made the All-Star Five, we will have a potential MVP in waiting.

GUARD

Birth Date: August 11, 2007 (17 years old) Height: 5ft 10in / 1.78 cm

The composure of the guard and her maturity has already been underlined by the fact she has made a squad for the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers. Talonen was influential last year at the U17 Worlds when Finland made an impact on a historic debut and in this competition, she looks destined to be her team's leader from the backcourt.

FORWARD

Birth Date: April 1, 2008 (17 years old) Height: 6ft 2in / 1.88 cm

Crowned MVP of the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2024 as she fuelled another title success for France, the forward showed all the attributes of being potential senior team material. Strong, poised, long, athletic and with a nose for blocking shots, she should continue her impressive momentum and be pivotal to France's title challenge.

GUARD

Birth Date: March 18, 2007 (17 years old) Height: 5ft 10in / 1.78 cm

While not a prolific scorer like others on the list, Giacchetti is still a driving force for Italy because of her all-around skills. With a distinctive style, she makes clutch plays from downtown or driving to the hoop and impressed at the last edition. She also gained great experience last season with La Molisana Campobasso in EuroCup Women.

GUARD

Birth Date: October 17, 2007 (17 years old) Height: 6ft 0in / 1.83 cm

Pouring in over 15 points per game in 2024 as her team's leading scorer, expect Urankjer to be just as dominant this time - if not more. Smart, with great handles and a nice pull-up, she's really dangerous. Her defense is also important too, being named Basketball Without Borders Europe 2024 Defensive MVP and made the All-Star Five.

GUARD

Birth Date: February 27, 2007 (17 years old) Height: 5ft 10in / 1.79 cm

One of the best young prospects for Montenegro in years, Bulajic has been helping the senior team at FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 in her major tournament debut. She is likely to hop across to U18 and show her guard skills which resulted in her being named MVP of Division B last summer as she led her team to promotion.

GUARD

Birth Date: October 5, 2007 (17 years old) Height: 5ft 9in / 1.75 cm

Another exciting young prospect competing on her debut at FIBA Women's EuroBasket, the Serbian guard is a fearless player with a great future ahead. She is adept at getting downhill with ease, is a fantastic facilitator and has already balled out at youth level with huge numbers and was Basketball Without Borders Europe 2024 MVP.

FORWARD

Birth Date: May 24, 2008 (17 years old) Height: 6ft 2in / 1.87 cm

Kibedi was the best scorer of all 2024 girls summer events. A walking bucket, she had two of the best displays all year when she netted 36 and 35 points respectively at the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket. She was top scorer with 20.7 points per game at the event, with her post-up play especially making her almost unguardable at times.

GUARD

Birth Date: February 8, 2008 (17 years old) Height: 5ft 10in / 1.77 cm

Outstanding at the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket last year, Zilbershlag amassed a stunning 18.9 points and 8.3 boards per game at the event. A physically strong and dominant guard, she could be the one to inspire Israel to success and is being tipped to soon make a transition to senior action after also shining in the Israeli League.

CENTER

Birth Date: April 17, 2007 (18 years old) Height: 6ft 3in / 1.90 cm

It's likely that Liepina will drop anchor in the paint for Latvia and provide the rock solid foundation for them to base their campaign around. She impressed at the previous edition and her maturity was underlined by also stepping out at U20 level too. The frontcourt ace has also developed her skills playing with TTT Riga in EuroCup Women.
